Over 6000 new students have taken the matriculation oath for the 2015/2016 academic session in Ekiti State University.
The oath was administered on them by the Registrar of the University Mr. Emmanuel Ogunyemi at a colourful ceremony presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele.
Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Samuel Oye Bandele congratulated their parents and guardians and the new intakes and welcomed them into the community of intellectuals.
During the oath taking, the new students promised to abide by the rules and regulations of the University and respect the authority of the Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor said no stone has been left unturned in the effort to reposition and restructure the University system.
He further added that the institution is fast growing and it’s breaking new grounds in ICT, stability of academic calendar and internally generated revenue and academic quality.
Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele advised the students to shun all acts of indiscipline capable of prolonging their stay in the institution. He also admonished them to cultivate reading culture and moral uprightness which EKSU students are known for. Adding that it is important that make self respect their watch word.
The Vice-Chancellor assured all newly admitted students that the present administration will make their welfare their concern with a promise that the newly admitted students will not record elongated academic calendar.
At the end of the Matriculation ceremony, families, parents, guardians and well wishers of the matriculants gathered to take photographs and merry.
Arogundade becomes EKSU Registrar
The Governing Council of Ekiti State University (EKSU) has approved the appointment of Barrister Akinwumi Olusola Arogundade as the new Registrar of the University. His appointment will take effect from 8th of May, 2016 when the current Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Ogunyemi would have completed his tenure.
Mr. Arogundade was born in Ado Ekiti on 4th February, 1963. He attended Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Ado Ekiti (1969-1975) and Christ School Ado Ekiti (1975-1980) for his Elementary and Secondary School Education.
The new EKSU Registrar bagged a Bachelors Degree in History at the University of Benin, Benin City in 1986. He qualified as a Lawyer after attending the University of Ibadan between 1987 and 1990 where he bagged LL.B (Hons) and the Nigerian Law School in Lagos between 1990 and 1991.
Mr. Arogundade obtained his Masters Degree in Law (LL.M) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2010. Before joining the services of the university, Mr. Arogundade had been an auxillary teacher, Litigation Counsel, Senior State Counsel at Ondo State Ministry of Justice Akure and One of the pioneer Senior State Counsels at Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, Ado Ekiti among others. The incoming Registrar had once been the Personal Assistant to the Hon. Attorney General in Ekiti State .He began his career in the university as a Senior Assistant Registrar (Legal Matters) on 20th October, 1997 and became Principal Assistant Registrar (Legal Matters) on 1st October, 2000. He was appointed as Deputy Registrar (Legal Matters) on1st December, 2011.
The new Registrar was on that position until his new appointment as the fifth substantive Registrar of the University.
The new Registrar was once the Director of the Advancement Centre of the University. He has served the university in several positions as member of the Students disciplinary committee, member of the Staff Disciplinary Committee, member Committee of the review of regulations governing the services of staff in the university, Secretary Council Technical Committee on the Report of the Visitation Panel, member, Committee on Internally Generated Revenue of the University Staff School and that of the Board of Governors, University Staff School.
Mr. Arogundade has attended several conferences locally and internationally.
An experienced Lawyer and seasoned Administrator, Barrister Arogundade is happily married with children.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, has since congratulated Barrister Arogundade on his appointment.
Ekiti State University Fully Deploys Its ICT Portal
The Authority of Ekiti State University has announced the full deployment of its ICT portal i.e eportal.eksu.edu.ng
In a statement by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, under this new arrangement, Ekiti State University Students will now complete their academic semester’s registration online to ensure proper record of student data for academic session.
- This means that Students are free to register their courses online from anywhere in the country.
- The ICT Directorate will therefore ensure that the procedure for the registration exercise must be well explained as stipulated in the University.
To this effect, The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele has also directed that all members of staff the University must be trained in the effective usage of the ICT portal.
He said that EKSU ICT portal is of the best standard which will lead to increase placement of the University in the webometric ranking.
The Vice- Chancellor added that the management was happy that it has delivered in one of the priority agenda of the Vice – Chancellor to move Ekiti State University out of manual age to Digital Compliant.
Department of History and International Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti Honours Professor Gabriel Ishola Olomola
The department of History and International Studies of Ekiti State University will on Thursday, 17th March 2016 holds a public lecture in honor of an internationally renowned Historian of Ekiti descent, Prof. Ishola Olomola.
The public lecture titled, ‘’ knowledge production and utilization in Africa: African Roots of Alternative Dispute Resolution system’’ will be delivered by a Professor of History, Akin Alao of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife.
The Vice- Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele is the Chief host while both past and present Students of History and international Studies in the University as well as the intellectual community globally will be in attendance.
Prof. Ishola Olomola, a distinguished academic and scholar is a world renowned historian; the Professor of History has had a successful academic career during which he helped develop the History and International Studies department of Ekiti State University.
